charlotte's 2012 resolutions
In 2012 I resolve to:
→gain 10-15 pounds—I know it won't be easy, but somehow I'll get there.
→not get poop on the back of my shirts—This will be hard to accomplish, but I'll strive for a lower frequency of this event.
→take my first steps—If I ever want to get anywhere faster, I really need to figure this out.
→eat my first chick-fil-a nuggets—Daddy keeps telling me about his place and I've been there, but this year I will taste and see just what he's been talking about for months.
→learn how to speak english—For some reason my parents don't quite understand my language so I guess I'll give in and learn their language.
→don't pee in the tub—I'm the only one who knows I do this, so it's more of a personal goal more than anything.
→get more spiritual—I go to church every week, but so far all that means is that I get to play with new toys. I think there's more to God than that.
→make some more friends—My parents are great and all, but who wants to hang out with their parents all the time?

a new year started off right
We here at jayhess.com hope you had a wonderful new year! We ended the new year and started it the best way we know how. Charlotte spent the last day of 2011 in a vintage Cincinnati Bengals shirt that use to be Jay’s when he was a kid. We had a relaxing day playing with Charlotte, cleaning up the house and working on our blog makeover. We were all in bed and asleep by 9:30, we are such partiers! The next day we had some of our favorite people over for a New Years Day brunch. The house was full of great people, yummy food and the backyard was alive with the shrieks and shrills of kids...just the way we like it!

Some of our projects for the year of 2012 are well underway, as you can see one is already complete: the makeover of jayhess.com! Jay has really been putting in some hours the past couple of days trying to convert and update everything. I hope everyone likes it! We think it is real purty! (southern accent used there)
Jay has some great time off, as this is his slow season. So, he is getting to spend some very valuable quality time with Charlotte before he gets crazy busy in the spring. I have some major birthdays on my mind and I am already planning and scheming away. Jay turns 30 at the end of February and crazy enough C turns one in March. Of course, there is going to be some major crafting, planning and at least one quilt that comes about! Charlotte has just recently (Dec. 31st) learned to crawl and so nothing in the house is safe, especially the dogs! As the new year comes about we have eagerly welcomed it and are charging full steam ahead! I know that this year will be filled with as many fun memories as 2011.

feelin’ fine at month number nine!
Every month we reflect on how much fun Charlotte is and how much she has grown. I know we say this every month, but this is the most fun she has ever been. She has such a cool personality and she is always so happy! This past month she has spent her time: slithering on the ground,
jumping in her johnny jump up,
eating a whole bunch of new foods (and for the first time enjoying it),
sipping on her water cup,
giggling at the oddest things,
“reading” one book over and over,
reaching for the dogs,
screaming at the top of her lungs with glee,
flying through the air as people throw her
and loving being nine months old!

crazy eights
Charlotte is now eight months and crazier than ever! She spends her days no longer cooing, but shrieking the words “dadda” and “hey”. She can be heard all over the house and from several different zip codes. While she plays on the front porch in her exersaucer she definitely knows how to use her outdoor voice. When she is not making us laugh by her mighty pipes she is bouncing in her new favorite toy, the Johnnie Jump Up! She spent most of months six and seven twirling like a ballerina, but one morning discovered the thrill of jumping! She keeps her energy up by consuming her favorite foods of apples and sweet potatoes.
