grandpa and grammy's log

Today we got the opportunity to go visit Grandpa and Grammy’s log cabin in progress.  They are building their dream log cabin in the middle of the big ol’ woods.  Here are some pictures of the log. I included one of Grandpa and Grammy at the front door and one of Grammy and C in front of the “fireplace”.  The next time we come to visit it will have real walls and stones and logs!

six days and counting!

We have six days until Christmas is here and our house knows it! Today we were preparing all day long.  With both of us fairly busy the past couple of weeks, we really have not taken the time to get into the holiday spirit at all, or even shop or get our game plan together.  This includes a LONG list of unfinished projects that I have had going since mid-October.   Today we got so much accomplished, amazing things happen when we are both home and ready to get things done.  Besides crafting all day long (Jay was right there with me, with scissors, decoupage...the works!) we also managed to have a great day as a family enjoying our first day of Christmas vacation.

Today Charlotte really got her first taste of Christmas.  She got to meet Santa for the first time (only an hour wait this time) and she seemed to really like him!  We also went to Hallmark to pick up her first Christmas ornament.  Of course, we walked out with two...we are such suckers!  We ended the day with a wintery family walk to the park and quick ride on the swings.

Overall, it was a great day and we are almost prepared for the holiday migration west.  Gifts are becoming to come together and of course the car carrier has been once again set into place.

december...grab a pen and paper

I am a huge list person.  I have them everywhere.  It is how things get finished in our house.  You know something will really get attention if it is put on the premier list spot in our house...the chalkboard.  I already have several lists: lists on notepads, secret pieces of paper tucked here and there, pinned on pinterest, lists of things to do, places to visit, pictures to take, people to see, things to make, things to buy and new recipes to try! Here are several list toppers that can be found on some of my lists for this month:

1. Finish making homemade presents for some little ones that have been very good this year!

2. Introduce Charlotte to Santa.

3. Festival of Lights.

4. Christmas Parties.

5. Learn to use our new camera, by completing this 31 Day Challenge.

6. A date with my husband.

7. Decorate the house from top to bottom with sparkly lights.

8. Make homemade stockings for the family.

9. Find the perfect gift for everyone on our list.

10. Explain what Christmas is all about to a nine month old, hey you have to start sometime! :)

Hope you have special plans for this exciting time of year!
